Walmart Identifies Giti Tire as a Giga-Guru

Walmart, one of the largest companies in the world by revenue, recognized Giti Tire as a Giga-Guru in the Walmart 2023 Gigaton Survey.
 

Every facet of Giti’s operations must take sustainability into account, and a number of global corporations, like Walmart, have acknowledged Giti’s efforts to reduce our environmental effect. Giga-Guru acknowledges Giti’s efforts to become carbon neutral and lessen our environmental effect, ranking us in the top 20% of Walmart’s suppliers.

Walmart launched Project Gigaton, an effort to involve suppliers in climate action, with the goal of lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the global value chain by 1 gigaton, or 1 billion metric tons, by 2030. Walmart assesses its suppliers’ contribution to this sustainability goal using a comprehensive questionnaire.

Giti, a pioneer in the tire industry worldwide, has established SMART targets to monitor our progress and proactively integrate sustainable practices into our operations, lowering our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. By reusing, recycling, and repurposing operational waste, Giti has been able to prevent the production of more than 80,000 metric tons of Carbon Dioxide equivalents (CO2e). Since natural rubber is a crucial part of our passenger car tires, we have also been searching for more sustainably produced natural rubber.

By managing the load and distance of our supply chain, we have reduced our greenhouse gas emissions by about 31,000 metric tons of CO2e as we proceed down our production line.

Giti offers a selection of low rolling resistance tires, such as GSL229 FS and GSL633 FS, that are likewise approved by SmartWay in order to pass savings forward to customers. With less energy lost during travel, these low rolling resistance tires assist drivers in using less gasoline. Our passenger car tire line will also have this low rolling resistance technology, resulting in energy-saving products that are especially important given the global rise in the popularity of electric vehicles.

A brief history of GITI and Motorsport

Giti Tire has established a solid and prosperous foothold in motorsports. They have sponsored drivers and events in the past, most notably under the GT Radial and Giti brands. Their involvement has taken place in a variety of racing styles and regions, including Asia, Europe, and the US. Notably, Giti Tire achieved outstanding success in their class during their spectacular debut in the 2017 24 Hours of Nürburgring Race in Germany. The firm carried on with noteworthy results in the following years, finishing first and second in the SP8 class at the Nürburgring race in 2019. At the year’s last VLN race, their all-female squad, “Giti’s Angels,” finished first class.

Giti Tire is the exclusive tire supplier and sponsor of the British Truck Racing Championship, having been in place since 2022 and continuing until 2023. In the UK, Giti Tire is also the official tire of the Volkswagen Beetle Fun Cup, which runs on their GitiCompete GTR1 tires (Wikipedia). Additionally, they have assisted drifting competitors like Chris Forsberg in Formula D since 2021 and Nobuhiro Tajima of Japan in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Championship.
