‘EMERGENCY’: PENCE CANCELS TRIP, RETURNS TO WHITE HOUSE
Speaking event in New Hampshire abruptly shut down
Air Force Two, carrying Vice President Mike Pence to a speaking event in New Hampshire, reversed course Tuesday morning and returned him to the White House to address an unspecified emergency.
The Hill reported there was no response from the vice president’s office on the emergency.
Pence was scheduled to speak about the opioid crisis.
The Washington Examiner reported a spokesman for the vice president who was in New Hampshire explained the flight had been diverted back to Washington.
Fox News reported officials said there was “no cause” for concern and the issue was not related to national security.
Radio host Rush Limbaugh proffered what he termed a “wild guess” about the Pence situation.
“I don’t think it has anything to do with anything domestic,” Limbaugh opined. “I think this has to do with something unrelated to any strife or problem within the country.”
“With whom are we engaged at the moment in tense moments? … What if the Iranians are huffing and puffing about doing something in the Middle East right now? I don’t know that. You get these little snippets of news, and you try to put things together out there.”
