i relish in the supreme court getting back to work tomorrow. every year they reassemble to be our highest order of honor and trust. they are fully one third of the power in our governmental system. their job is to interpret the constitution.
a seat on the supreme court is a lifetime appointment. the president chooses a nominee, the senate, through a process of advise and consent, confirms or rejects the president’s choice. there is no higher honor.
what they say goes. they are the last word in our court system they look at cases that have been decided and they square it with the constitution. they will concur or overturn a verdict as a group. there are nine members, if there is a deadlock tie vote, there is “Affirmance by an Equally Divided Court,” the decision stands.
the sanctity of the court is a collection of people who are beyond repraoch. they really are above politics, we should always have faith in that concept, and we do. even if we don’t like the decision sometimes, and there have been bad decisions made, but they are the end of the legal process, they are the last word of an intelligent government.
the founding fathers were very shrewd in having a group of very distinguished scholors decide when to move on, they settle the issue. they are wise.
by not taking a case, they can also render what they deem to be important to the success of the future of the country.
someday our united states supreme court will have to hear a case about presidental eligibility. they will have to define the term natural born. so far they have been evading the issue.
so i am excited to see the court getting back to work. congresses come and go, presidents do to, in the historical blink of an eye. the supremes are enduring and thoughtful. they are real people that even have senses of humor. it is the group of nine that we hold dear, because we trust them to our most important devices of day to day living, and the general pursuit of modern happiness.

Glad you’re excited about something. But the Supreme Court is all about politics and anyone who thinks the nine judges on the Supreme Court are there because of their vast knowledge and command of the law is delusion, at best.
The Supreme Court is not going to touch this issue before the election and will rule that it means that must mearly be born in the US to quailfy. If it is ever proven that Obama was born overseas, they will rule that as long as one parent was a citizen, you are natural born. If it is proven that Obama is not even a citizen they will rule that as long as you might know someone who is a citizen, you are considered to be a natural born citizen. There is no freaking way that this court will stand up for the Constitution if it results in problems.
You have got to be kidding, right?
If the judges on the Supreme Court were above the political fray, it wouldn’t matter who was elected president. Instead, every four years we hear how our political choices impact the “direction” of the Supreme Court. Do the meaning of the founders have “direction”? If the rights imbued by God to us are looked at through the prism of political convenience or expedience, we’re lost.
Who really believes that schizophrenic drivel about an a-political Supreme Court, anyway?
I’m afraid the Court, and therefore the Constitution, are subject the vagaries and whims of the two-headed political juggernaut. Our guaranteed rights will be paid lip service until they have to be done away with by the State in the name of “overriding government interest.” (This did happen in a 1983 case, incidentally.)

they knew that the president would choose a candidate including their philisophical patterns and tendencies.
