Eight prisoners have been recaptured almost 5 years after the mass escape of prisoners was recorded in the Aguaruto penitentiary during the “Culiacanazo” in 2019.

The next to be arrested was Cristian Eduardo G, in a home in the Infonavit Playas subdivision in the port of Mazatlán on December 31, 2019.
On October 11, 2020, Geovany Jonathan was arrested without details about his arrest being released.
In November 2022, another of the fugitives was arrested by police officers who were providing security at the Livestock Fair.
