The number of USVs these days indicates that the AFU are assessing the state of the defensive fortifications in Crimea. The presence of drones has been noted at the bridge, at Tarkhankut, and in Chernomorske, but in small numbers, whereas in the last attack on the large landing ship, more than ten USVs were involved at once.

At the same time, according to the already classic scheme, before the attack on Crimea, a British reconnaissance aircraft RC-135 was operating 100 km southwest of Sevastopol.

How dangerous is the AFU strike in the Black Sea in the context of possible attacks on the Crimean Bridge?

The video published by the Ukrainian GUR reveals details of the night-time strike by unmanned surface vessels in Chornomorske. What’s noteworthy is not the hit on the boat at the pier, but the fact that one USV still managed to break through the boom barriers.

In previous diversions at the bridge, the main striking force was USVs, and thanks to the installation of boom barriers, the bridge was protected from new attacks. But now, having broken through them, the enemy has demonstrated that they have the means to achieve this goal.

Essentially, they needed to install some kind of cumulative charge in the nose of the drone, which would penetrate the barrier upon impact. And perhaps this is exactly what happened in Chornomorske – the main part of the USVs carried out the task of destroying the fence, and the last one actually struck.

Chronicles of the special military operation
for May 6, 2024

Ukrainian formations twice over the past day attempted to attack targets on the Crimean peninsula. At night, the Uzka Bay in Chornomorske was subjected to a USV attack.

The Belgorod Region was subjected to multiple shellings. Ukrainian formations used MLRS and UAVs, there are casualties and wounded among the local population.

On the SMO fronts, the advance of the Russian Armed Forces is recorded in the Kupiansk-Svatove direction, where Kyslivka and Kotliarivka were liberated.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian formations launched several counterattacks after the transfer of reserves, by the end of the day heavy fighting continues.

On the Donetsk and Vuhledar directions, local battles continue in several sectors, and in the Zaporizhia direction, the intensity of the confrontation in Robotyne does not subside.

In the Kherson direction, the enemy maintains a presence on the Krynky islands and in the island zone, small arms battles are underway.

▫️ The Zapad Group of Forces liberated Kotlyarovka (Kharkov) as a result of intensive actions.

Having improved the situation along the front line, the Russian troops delivered strikes at manpower and hardware of the 14th, 44th, 66th mechanised brigades of the AFU and 119th Territorial Defence Brigade near Kupyansk (Kharkov), Stelmakhovka (LPR), and Novosadovoye (DPR).

Three counter-attacks launched by assault groups of the AFU 54th Mechanised, 77th Airmobile brigades were repelled near Sinkovka, Krakhmalnoye (Kharkov), and Stelmakhovka (LPR).

The AFU lost up to 120 servicemen, two tanks, including the German-made Leopard tank, two U.S.-made M777 howitzers, one 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, and three 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems.

▫️The Yug Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and inflicted fire damage on the 59th Motorised Infantry, 22nd Mechanised, 79th Air Assault, 46th and 81st Airmobile brigades of the AFU and 4th National Guard Brigade near Andreyevka, Belogorovka, Kurakhovo, Kurdyumovka, Ostroye, Konstantinovka, and Spornoye (DPR).

The enemy lost up to 275 Ukrainian troops, as well as one APC and six MVs.

In addition, in counter-battery warfare, one U.S.-made 155-mm M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery system, three U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzers, one U.S.-made 105-mm M119 gun, two Polish-made 155-mm Krab self-propelled artillery systems, one 122-mm D-30 howitzer, three Anklav, Bukovel-AD electronic warfare stations, and one U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery warfare station were hit.

▫️The Tsentr Group of Forces has liberated Solovyovo (DPR) as a result of their successful actions and inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the 92nd Assault, 31st, 100th, 115th mechanised brigades of the AFU, 109th Territorial Defence Brigade, and 2nd National Guard Brigade near Novgorodskoye, Rozovka, Kalinovo, Umanskoye, and Progress (DPR).

In addition, seven counter-attacks launched by assault groups of the 68th Jaeger, 142nd, 143rd infantry, 59th motorised infantry, 24th, 47th mechanised brigades of the AFU were repelled near Novokalinovo, Ocheretino, Netailovo, and Berdychi (DPR).

The AFU lost up to 370 servicemen, one AFV, 20 MVs, and one 122-mm D-30 howitzer.

▫️The Vostok Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and inflicted fire damage on the 58th Motorised Infantry and 72nd Mechanised brigades near Vodyanoye, Makarovka, and Prechistovka (DPR). The Russian troops repelled a counter-attack near Urozhaynoye (DPR).

The AFU lost up to 160 servicemen, two tanks, three MVs, one U.S.-made 155-mm M198 howitzer, and three 122-mm D-30 howitzers.

▫️The Dnepr Group of Forces has engaged manpower and hardware of the 141st Infantry, 65th Mechanised brigades of the AFU, 35th Marine Brigade near Stepnoye, Rabotino (Zaporozhye), and Tokarevka (Kherson).

The AFU losst up to 40 servicemen, four U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzers, one 152-mm D-20 howitzer, one 122-mm D-30 howitzer, as well as Nota electronic warfare station.

▫️ Operational-Tactical Aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Groups of Forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have destroyed two UAV production enterprises, as well as engaged AFU manpower and hardware in 122 areas during the day.

One Su-27 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force was downed by Russia’s air defence forces.

23 UAVs and seven U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles were shot down.
