Showers and scattered thunderstorms, some with potentially heavy rainfall, can be expected with a cold front today. Very windy conditions develop Friday into Saturday. Dry and warm weather returns for the weekend into the middle of next week.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Patchy fog before 10am. Highs in the upper 60s. Winds out of the southeast 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of rain is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Showers and thunderstorms likely before midnight, then a slight chance of showers between midnight and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with lows in the mid 40s. Winds out of the northwest 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of rain is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Showers and thunderstorms likely before 11pm, then a slight chance of showers between 11pm and 1am. Patchy fog between 10pm and 11pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with lows around 41. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 16 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of rain is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday

Mostly sunny, with highs in the mid 50s. Winds out of the northwest 10 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

Winds out of the southwest 10 to 20 mph shifting to come out of the northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of rain is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Nantahala Area

Hazardous weather is not expected today.

Widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms will cross the area today. An isolated severe storm is possible, with damaging winds the main threat. Some of the storms will produce heavy rainfall, and isolated flooding is possible. Very gusty winds are also expected to develop and continue into Friday. A Wind Advisory may be needed.


Pollen

Pollen levels are expected to be in the medium range (0.2 out of 12) today with Oak, Juniper, and Birch being the main culprits. Tomorrow is expected to be in the medium-high range (10.4 out of 10.3).
