In this day and age, we should all be looking for ways to use less energy in our homes. It’s a choice that benefits not only the planet but your household and your wallet as well. Today, opting to be more green has countless benefits.

One of the best things about being green is that it’s now easier than ever to achieve. Reducing your energy use doesn’t have to be costly or difficult, it can involve small steps you can easily implement in your everyday life.

Don’t believe us? Don’t worry—we’ve got plenty energy saving examples for you. Read on to learn some top energy tips to save energy in 2022.

1. Take Shorter Showers

Did you know that if two members of your household cut their shower time by only a minute each, you could save $30 over a year? You could also save a whole lot of energy.

If you were able to cut a few minutes more, think of the energy you could save! You don’t have to make drastic changes to see a real impact.

2. Turn Off Those Lights

How often do you forget—or just not bother—to turn off a light when you leave the room? This may not seem like a big deal, but in fact, when you do this you’re depriving yourself of cost savings and wasting energy. Switching to energy-saving light bulbs can also help in this regard.

3. Get Energy Efficient-Windows

Energy-efficient windows are a great addition to your home for lots of different reasons. They do a great job of keeping in heat and keeping out cold, which means you won’t have to turn on extra heating sources nearly as much as you once did. They also add value to your property, which is good news if you’re ever thinking of selling it at any point down the line.

4. Install Solar Panels

This may not be as small as some of the other changes on this list, but the amount of effort it takes is well worth it for the results it produces. Not only will it drastically decrease the cost of your utilities, but if you own your solar panels, you’ll receive energy credits from the government for any excess energy you have each month.

5. Only Run Full Loads

When you don’t use it in a smart way, your washing machine can be a big source of energy waste. One top tip to save energy when doing your laundry is to run a cold cycle—though this isn’t always possible. A more practical idea is to only run full loads, so you’re using your machine as efficiently as possible.

There is one very important thing that you forgot to mention. Based on our own experience with my wife’s laundry I can tell you that commercial dryer vent cleaning https://dryerventcleaningtoday.ca/commercial/ is a must, because when the vents are clogged by various stuff falling off inside the washing machine as well as dirt, it will slow down the capacity of your washing process and increase energy consumption. Plus the fire risk of course.
