Lady Parts

We hear a lot about identity politics these days. As a woman, I’m supposed to vote so called “woman’s issues”. Some go so far as to tell me to vote with my “lady parts”. Seems extremely sexist (not to mention unsanitary) but let’s explore the idea. With which part of my identity as a woman should I vote? Business owner? That would mean I’m going to vote for lower taxes and less unnecessary regulation. Oh, that’s not what you meant? Christian wife and mother? Yeah, you definitely won’t like my stance on so called social issues. Taxpayer and concerned citizen? Pro 2A female that would rather shoot an attacker than wait a few months to get my rape kit analyzed? Somehow I’m pretty sure that’s not what you wanted either.

That’s the biggest problem with gender/race politics. Aren’t we all so much more than the skin with which God chose to decorate us? Can you really boil down your identity to one or two very specific factors that negate every other aspect of you? And if you can, what makes you think I should have to? I think I’ll just keep voting with my lady smarts, and you can quit pandering to me about what you think is my most important lady part.
