Amazon Just Racially Profiled Congress & Senate – ACLU Infuriated!

I have warned and warned and warned again that Facial Recognition software is nowhere near ready for public use.  The ACLU now agrees more than ever.  When they found out the Amazon’s Rekognition platform racially profiled members of the Congress and Senate they became infuriated!

It turns out that when you use the Rekognition platform, add in photos of each representative of Congress and the Senate, then loads in a database of mugshots…click ‘identify’ and positive identifications starts popping up all over the place!  Well, that’s not good news for Amazon, the Congress, the Senate or any American citizen.  The ACLU agrees and is calling for immediate action.

We are moving faster with technology that we have an ability to keep up with the racial bias in the system.  This isn’t only facial recognition it applies to either; nope, it happens the same in voice recognition too.  So we need to stop it before someone really gets hurt by a false positive identification.
